McClain was released Thursday on his own recognizance and placed on house arrest with an ankle monitor while his case is pending. He is not allowed to have contact with any of his accusers, but he is allowed to doctors’ appointments and church.
A family member of two of the children on Thursday said the justice system wasn’t doing its job to properly protect the community’s kids.

Talebi said while he understands emotions in cases like these, the decision to place McClain on house arrest restricts his contact with others, including his accusers, assures public safety and allows the state to pursue a just outcome through a methodical and necessary investigation.
According to an indictment filed in Champaign County Common Pleas Court, the alleged incidents were said to take place between April 1, 2017, and Nov. 15, 2018. Talebi said there is a big gap in the timeline between when the incidents allegedly took place and the state pressing charges against McClain because of delayed reporting.
Talebi said two of the accusers came forward and reported the alleged acts to their families just recently. Their families made a report with Urbana police on Dec. 3 of this year.
Talebi said McClain was directly indicted. He was never arrested and never spent any time in jail.
McClain faces charges of endangering children, gross sexual imposition, attempted gross sexual imposition and rape.
He is next scheduled to be in court Dec. 27.
