Cleveland missing woman discusses captivity on TV

By Breaking News Staff and Associated Press

One of three women who escaped from a Cleveland home after more than a decade in captivity will discuss her ordeal on TV today.

Michelle Knight will appear on the “Dr. Phil” show at 10 a.m. today and Wednesday on WHIO TV Channel 7 in a taped interview. She was kidnapped in 2002.

Their kidnapper, Ariel Castro, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to life in prison. He hanged himself Sept. 3, just weeks into his sentence.

According to Dr. Phil’s website, Knight will discuss how she was Castro’s “most hated” victim, as well as how she survived in the house and the day she says she was forced to “prepare” a room for Castro’s third victim.

Knight will also share how the three women developed a bond and protected each other, according to Dr. Phil’s website, and her feelings about Castro’s death.

The show says Knight “describes the horrible conditions in the house” and reveals her physical, mental and sexual abuse.

Knight, Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus escaped May 6 when Berry pushed out a door and yelled for help.
