A Dayton woman was charged with criminal damaging Wednesday after attacking a watermelon vendor, according to a Dayton police report.

The watermelon vendor was located in the 2000 block of Germantown Street, where 43-year-old Shellie Hawkins attacked him, the report said.

Hawkins pushed the vendor from his chair and threw one of his watermelons in front of him before she threw a second watermelon into the street, the report states.

Police noted that there were two large watermelons smashed, one on the ground and one in the street, when they arrived on scene.

When Police went to question Hawkins at her apartment, she tried to justify pushing the vendor and throwing his watermelons because she said he stole from her roommate, says the report.

Hawkins was arrested booked into the Montgomery County Jail, according to the report.
