Dayton woman finds her flat-screen TV on the porch

A woman came home Tuesday afternoon to find her flat-screen TV on the front porch, but the remote control left the stoop.

The 89-year-old resident of the 200 block of Walton Avenue called Dayton police to report the burglary at approximately 1:30 p.m., according to the Dayton police report.

Someone apparently removed the storm window pane and pushed in the crank-operated front window to enter the home, according to the report.

Police said the burglar removed the woman's 32-inch Samsung, but only got it as far as the front porch before fleeing the scene.

The victim told police aside from the displaced TV, nothing was missing except the TV's remote control, according to the report.

The front porch is hidden from the street by large bushes and trees, according to the report.

An evidence crew responded and took prints from the TV in an effort to identify the suspect.
