Undercover detectives watched as Ahmad gave the man second and final payment to carry out the slaying, Plummer said.
Ahmad was immediately arrested and is in jail on a conspiracy to commit murder charge. The slaying was never carried out and his ex-wife, Kristen (Hornsby) Ahmad, is OK.
“Our informant who was hired by Dr. Ahmad tipped us to what was going on,” Plummer said. “Our intended victim had no idea her life was in danger.”
It is unlikely Ahmad’s hire will face charges since that person cooperated with authorities, Plummer said.
Ahmad, who divorced Kristen Ahmad in 2002 and has since remarried, is going through a child custody battle with the woman, investigators and his attorney John H. Rion said. State medical records show Ahmad operates a family practice at 6750 Brandt Pike in Huber Heights and at 2550 Shiloh Springs in Trotwood.
Ahmad had several complaints lodged against him by patients alleging inappropriate sexual comments and touching.
None of the complaints resulted in Ahmad being criminally charged or disciplined by the Ohio State Medical Board, though he has been sued by at least one person and had to pay $30,000 in damages and fees.
Ahmad’s attorney, John H. Rion, said his son, attorney Jon Paul Rion, visited the doctor Thursday morning.
Rion said he was retained by the doctor about six months ago to help with the custody battle.
The couple had one child together under 18 at the time of the 2002 divorce, according to court records.
