Jail cafeteria worker who had sex with prisoner sentenced

LEBANON — A former Warren County Jail cafeteria worker convicted of having sex with an inmate was sentenced today, June 9, to 60 days in jail and three years probation.

Warren County Common Pleas Judge James Flannery also designated Samantha Shannon, 25, of Lebanon, as a Tier III sex offender, which means she will have to report to the county sheriff every 90 days for the rest of her life, according to Assistant Prosecutor Matt Nolan.

Nolan said if Shannon violates the terms of her probation, she faces a two-year prison term on the sexual battery charge, which is a third-degree felony.

Shannon was employed by ABL Food Services, a private food provider the county hired to provide food to inmates, when she had sexual intercourse with a male inmate in the cafeteria’s cooler in November 2009.
