A sobriety checkpoint is scheduled for tonight in the area of South Smithville Road and Linden Avenue in Dayton.
The OVI Task Force of Montgomery County will operate the checkpoint from 8 p.m. to midnight.
State law requires that law enforcement announce times and locations ahead of time.

The goal of sobriety checkpoints is to decrease the number of alcohol- and drug-related traffic crashes, injuries and deaths.
In 2019, there were 584 alcohol-related and 236 drug-related crashes in Montgomery County, according to the task force. Thirteen were deadly.
