Man accused in assault, abduction arrested

A Dayton man sought on accusations he assaulted the mother of his child and held her against her will for several hours was arrested Thursday morning.

Fred Crenshaw Jr. was arrested on Riverview Avenue by the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team.

The victim, 20, said Fred Crenshaw Jr. is the father of her 6-month-old son, but that she recently told him that she doesn’t want to be in a relationship with him anymore.

She said on Monday at about 9:30 p.m. she was picking up her son from Crenshaw’s house on Walton Avenue when he grabbed her by the hair, choked and hit her. He then went and got a gun and dragged her down some stairs into the back yard and struck her in the face with the gun, according to a police report.

He then allegedly dragged her to a friend’s house and forced her into a car to go to another house. While there for two to three hours, she said she was held against her will and made to be quiet so that her mother and aunt, who came looking for her, wouldn’t know she was there.

He eventually took her to Good Samaritan Hospital according to the report, where police made contact with her.

She reportedly had bruising and swelling to the whole right side of her face and scratches on her hands. Her right eye was swollen shut.

This was the second incident between the two this week. The victim was already supposed to meet with Montgomery County Prosecutors this week in reference to an incident over the weekend in which she claims Crenshaw hit her with his car and tried to run her off the road.

Police put out a broadcast to be on the lookout for Crenshaw Tuesday afternoon. He is described as a black male 5 foot 10 inches tall and 150 lbs. He is known to carry a pistol, according to the report.
