Man charged for trafficking 40 grams of cocaine

A man is in jail today, after officers found 40 grams of cocaine inside an apartment, according to a police report.

James Tate III, 34, was charged with felony trafficking in drugs. He appeared in court today, where he pleaded not guilty.

Officers responded Sunday to the 1800 block of Lagonda Avenue on the report of firing a gun in an area. They heard someone fire multiple shots and saw a man run into the open door of a building, according the report.

They ordered him, another man and a woman out of the building, and later searched the apartment. They found a gun, five spent casings, three baggies of crack cocaine and one baggie of powder cocaine, according to the report.

Tate pleaded not guilty in court and remains booked in the Clark County Jail on $250,000 bond.
