Man convicted in McDonald's abduction case

An Urbana man Tuesday pleaded guilty to an abduction that occurred July in the Urbana McDonald's parking lot.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Nov. 26 for Michael S. Bass, 35, who faces a maximum consecutive sentence of three years in prison in addition to potential time in the Tri-County Regional Jail, Mechanicsburg.

Bass also pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of carrying a concealed weapon. Additional charges of kidnapping with a sexual motivation specification and abduction were dismissed.

On July 5, Bass tried to force a female teenager to stay with him in the parking lot of McDonald's, 708 Scioto St. He reportedly grabbed the victim and reached into an open window of a vehicle as she tried to flee.

According to Greene County Common Pleas Court documents, a jury found Bass guilty of attempted burglary and voyeurism in November 2010 stemming from an April 2010 incident in which he attempted to remove the screen from a woman's bedroom window.

He was sentenced to a year in prison and classified as a Tier I sex offender in December 2010.
