Man in Dayton SWAT standoff indicted in robbery

A man involved in a SWAT standoff with Dayton police early this year now faces a felony charge.

Cory F. Stevenson, 37, of Dayton was indicted Thursday for robbery, stemming from a Dec. 21, 2017, incident, according to a Montgomery County grand jury report.

Stevenson was wanted in connection to that crime when police tried to arrest him the morning of Jan. 26.

Dayton police at the time said Stevenson would not come out of an apartment in the 1500 block of Bancroft Street. They said he was believed to be armed with a 9mm pistol.

He was taken into custody about two hours after the SWAT team arrived on scene.

Stevenson is held in the Montgomery County Jail awaiting an arraignment scheduled for Tuesday in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.
