Police say the man ordered a large drink and was ready to leave the store when he turned around and ordered another drink. When the cash register drawer opened, police said, he attempted to reach for the money. The employee closed the drawer immediately.
The robber then went behind the counter and held the employee against the wall. Though he did not display a weapon, the employee said, according to the police report, he “felt a small object in the small of his back. He believed it to be a gun.”
During this time, the assistant manager saw the incident from the back and called 911. The robber left before the assistant manager came to the front of the store.
The employee and assistant manager did not know which direction the suspect fled, though a customer who witnessed the crime said he fled behind the restaurant. A K-9 unit tracked the robber’s route to the 4200 block of Lewis Street where police believe he got into a car and left.
No one was injured during the robbery.
Investigators found a receipt they believe was the robber’s and pulled fingerprints.
Anyone with information about the suspect, should call Detective Ken Rogers at (513) 425-7741.
