Not guilty plea in acquaintance rape, kidnap case

A 20-year-old man accused of rape and kidnap against a female acquaintance pleaded not guilty Monday.

Stefan Kuntz, accused in an incident police said occurred at his apartment Dec. 10, remains in jail on charges of rape, kidnapping and resisting arrest.

At arraignment Monday in Miami County Common Pleas Court, the court continued a cash bond of $75,000.

Troy police said they went to Kuntz’ apartment on Todd Lane the evening of Dec. 10 after receiving a call about a disturbance. Officers were unable to get anyone to come to the door and eventually entered through an unlocked door.

They said Kuntz came down the stairs, assuring them nothing was wrong, but the woman following him was mouthing the words “help me” to an officer.

A pretrial hearing is scheduled for Feb. 2.
