Ohio bank robber sentenced in Mississippi

A Cleveland man already serving more than 15 years in prison for a string of crimes in Indiana and Ohio, including the August 2008 robbery of National City Bank’s Kettering branch, was sentenced Friday to nearly eight years in federal prison for robbing a Mississippi Bank.

In a news release, authorities in Jackson, Miss., said that Stuart Lee Vance was sentenced in U.S. District Court. Vance, 39, known as the “Rush Hour Robber,” pleaded guilty to robbing Great Southern National Bank in Meridian, Miss.

It’s unlikely that latest sentence will add any time, given his significant sentences here. For the bank robbery conviction in Mississippi, Vance received 94 months, which are to be served concurrently – or at the same time — with the Indiana and Ohio sentences. Vance was also ordered to pay $2,910 in restitution, according to records.

Records in Indiana show Vance is in a prison there, serving time for theft, burglary and receiving stolen property convictions. His earliest release date is listed as Nov. 9, 2014.

In April 2012, Vance received an 8-year sentence, consecutive to his Indiana time, for convictions of aggravated robbery, attempted burglary and receiving stolen property in Warren County. Two months later, he received a 12-year sentence in Hamilton County, to be served after he finished his Indiana time, but concurrently with the Warren County sentence.

On July 9, Vance pleaded guilty to a count of robbery in connection with the August 22, 2008 incident at National City Bank. Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge Mary Wiseman sentenced him to three years in prison, which is to be served after he finishes the sentences Vance was currently serving in Warren and Hamilton counties, as well as in Indiana.
