Pair suspected in dozens of break-ins

Two Dayton men arrested in connection to a break-in at a Shelby County food store are suspected in other cases, investigators said Thursday.

Kevin Ashley, 41, and Steven Ashley, 36, may be connected to as many as 20 break-ins in the Miami Valley, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

On Aug. 14, deputies responded to a break-in at Anna Foods. According to a press release, the thieves cut a hole in the roof of the business and stole property.

Detectives with the Shelby County Sheriff’s office said they worked in conjunction with the Lima Police Department, Wapakoneta Police Department and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office to help identify the suspects. Both men are scheduled to be arraigned in Shelby County Common Pleas Court on Dec. 12.

Kevin Ashley was charged with one felony count of breaking and entering and one felony count of vandalism. Steven Ashley was charged with one count of felony complicity to breaking and entering and one count of complicity to felony vandalism.
