BROWN TWP., Miami County (MARCH 27) A rural Lena woman reported to sheriff’s deputies that her fiancé stole her vehicle and some money from her purse. The vehicle was found in the driveway of her home and the woman admitted she had lied, deputies said. She was charged with filing a false report.

VANDALIA (MARCH 22) – Police said a man who climbed over barbed wire fencing into an electric substation pulled circuit breakers, tampered with equipment and caused a power outage. The man was taken for a mental health evaluation and charged with criminal trespassing and inducing panic.

VANDALIA (MARCH 25) – Police were called to the Travelodge on a disturbance caused by two guests who failed to check out on time including a woman who punched an employee as she attempted to write down their license plate number. The offender continued to argue with police about wanting to have the employee charged. Police charged the female guest and trespassed both guests from the business for two years.

VANDALIA (MARCH 23) – A woman said her daughter kicked her in the stomach after she asked the girl to quit using the computer and to do her homework. The 12-year-old girl was charged with domestic violence in juvenile court.

LAURA (MARCH 28) – A resident of a Laura residence called Miami County sheriff’s deputies around 2 a.m. complaining that two adults staying at his house were engaged in a verbal and physical disturbance. Deputies said both the man and woman were highly intoxicated and denied being involved in any dispute and said they only wanted to go to sleep. Deputies left but were called to return a short time later when the homeowner said the man continued to be disorderly and kept calling him names. Deputies told all three adults to stay away from each other “and call it a night.”

TROY (MARCH 28) – A Troy woman received a citation for illegal use of her horn after a police officer said she was honking her vehicle horn repeatedly in the area of West and South Market streets for no reason.
