BETHEL TWP., MIAMI COUNTY (AUG. 13) – Sheriff’s deputies were called to a rural residence around 1 a.m. on the report of a disturbance with around 20 people out front screaming. They found the daughters of the homeowners were having a small party while the parents were out of town when someone announced the party on Snapchat. A large number of people then arrived and, when asked to leave, one male made threats and fought with a friend of the girls. Deputies said a number of people fled the area before they arrived. After the initial visit by deputies, they returned when the girls reported someone shot out windows in cars in the driveway. The girls living at the house were picked up by a friend’s mother to stay at her house the rest of the night.

VANDALIA (JULY 31) – A young boy was charged in juvenile court with theft after he stole a dachshund from the yard of a Heather Court residence. The owner said she put two dogs outside briefly and returned to find the one dog gone. The sister of the boy returned the dog to the woman, who sought charges because of past problems allegedly caused by the boy. The boy also was trespassed from the dog owner’s property.
