Police: Drive-by shooting on North Main not random

The drive-by shooting on North Main that injured a woman Wednesday afternoon was not random, Dayton police said Thursday evening.

Chrishanda Hinton, 30, of Dayton, was shot in the arm around 1:30 p.m. while driving in the 3500 block of North Main Street.

According to police, her black Lincoln SUV was struck by at least nine rounds fired by someone in a white SUV.

Both passenger side windows were shattered by the gunfire, according to a police incident report.

Police haven't made any arrests, but Lt. Matthew Dickey said the shooting was not random.

Hinton was reportedly in a dispute with the people who fired on her, Dickey said, and there "was some premeditation," by that party to shoot her.

The police department's felonious assault and homicide squad is investigating the incident, he said.

Hinton got out of her vehicle in the 3100 block of North Main near a barber shop. Medics responded to the shop to treat Hinton and take her to a hospital.

No one else was in the car at the time of the shooting. The incident remains under investigation.
