Police: Father overdosed with toddler in car

Dayton police said a father overdosed on heroin inside his car, with his 3-year-old daughter in the backseat, according to a report.

Thomas Brown, 25, reportedly did not have a pulse when police and medics arrived at the scene on Gondert Avenue yesterday, the report states.

A neighbor had called 911 after finding Brown, allegedly slumped over in the driver's seat with a toddler in a car seat in the back of the vehicle.

The neighbor said he could not find a pulse, so he called 911 and then dumped ice on Brown and started CPR, according to the police report.

Medics administered Narcan to save his life, the report states. No one was sure how long he had been unresponsive in the car.

Brown was taken to Miami Valley Hospital and then booked into jail. He is in custody today for child endangering, a misdemeanor, according to jail records.

The child was released to her grandfather.

The grandfather told officers that Brown had just received visitation rights to see the girl, the report states.
