Police say body found under car had been dragged

MONROE — Police say a woman struck a man with her car in front of his home, then dragged his body about a mile to a Shell gas station in Monroe early Saturday morning, Aug. 7.

Kristina Hensley, 35, of Higginsport, Ohio, is being held at the Butler County Jail on charges of fleeing the scene of an accident.

Police say her car hit Jae Cho, 31, of Monroe in front of his residence at 367 Timrick Place and drug his body about a mile to the Shell gas station at 1280 Hamilton-Lebanon Rd.

Barb Hoffman, a clerk at the gas station, said she made the 911 call shortly before 5 a.m.

“This lady came in hysterical,” Hoffman said. “She said, ‘Can you call 911? It was an accident. He jumped out in front of me.’”

Hoffman, 50, of South Lebanon, said she looked under the woman’s car, and all she could see was “his mangled body.”

Detective Ken Parson said emergency crews found Cho under the car having suffered“severe trauma” in the dragging and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

More charges against Hensley may follow after police meet with the prosecutor’s office Monday morning, Aug. 9, said Monroe police Sgt. Tom Cobaugh.

Cho lived alone, Parson said, but next of kin have been notified.

Neighbors described Cho as friendly but quiet. He often borrowed tools to work on his house and would let kids use the hoop in his driveway to play basketball, said David Beckett, 53, who lives across the street.

Raymond Trent, 78, said Cho would trim his hedges when he was sick. In his 40 years living on the cul-de-sac he said he has never known “a worse tragedy.”

“He was a real good neighbor. You wouldn’t know a greater neighbor than him,” Trent said.

The investigation is ongoing, with more details expected to be released Monday, police said. Hensley will have a video arraignment from the jail Monday at 10 a.m.

Her prior criminal history includes a theft and assault charge. In June she was charged with disorderly conduct in Brown County, for which she is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 20, according to court documents.

Hoffman said she has not slept since the incident. “I’m shook up about it,” she said. “When I close my eyes, there is a vision of him. I can’t stop thinking about it.”
