Report: Man passed out at traffic light wakes to police

Dayton police are looking for a man who apparently passed out behind the wheel at a traffic light, but drove off when he woke up to officers outside the car.

Officers were called out around 3 a.m. today to the report of a man asleep in a Buick at the intersection of Catalpa Drive and West Fairview Avenue.

They said the driver, who was about 20 to 30 years old, woke up as they stood outside the car. He "appeared confused" and then sped off through the red light, almost running over the officers' feet, according to a police report.

Officers tracked the vehicle's registration to a Huber Heights address, but the owner said she had loaned the car to a female friend and did not know who the male driver might be, the report states.

Inside the car, a bottle of Patron tequila was on the floor board and a pair of tennis shoes was in the back seat, according to the report.
