Roommates take washing machine from home

Police said officers are familiar with a male couple who are accused of taking an old washing machine and metal shelves from an apartment they were being allowed to stay at in Dayton.

Donald Scott Black, 45, and Larry Dale Nester Jr., 20, are being held in the Montgomery County Jail on suspicion of theft.

The residents of the apartment in the 200 block of East Bruce Avenue were staying with a friend for two days because of drug abuse going on with Black and Nester, according to the Dayton police report.

While they were away, the suspects, described as a man and his transexual boyfriend, loaded up a metal washing machine and metal shelves from the basement into a van, according to the report.

Police said neighbors thought that maybe the residents were moving out of the apartment.

Police noted they were familiar with the neighbors' descriptions of the suspects because of previous calls to the location for "roommate troubles," according to the report.
