Springfield police are investigating a robbery and double homicide that took place hours apart at a Clifton Avenue home Monday.
Daltyn C. Mincer, 19, and Austyn Brown, 19, died following the shooting late Monday at 902 1/2 Clifton Avenue, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
The cause and manner of death has not been determined, but both victims had gunshot wounds, the coroner’s office said.
The shooting was reported at 11:44 p.m. Monday evening.
Police scanner traffic said that the initial report may have involved two people shot in the head.
Earlier Monday, officers were dispatched around 12:45 p.m. to Springfield Regional Medical Center in reference to a robbery incident that took place at 902 Clifton Avenue, according to a Springfield police report.
When police arrived, they spoke with the victim who said, “that he lost his job and admitted that he’s been selling marijuana to make money.”
The victim told officers he talked to his friend, Mincer, about buying some marijuana, the report says. The victim then went to meet Mincer at 902 Clifton Avenue.
The victim said while he was inside the upstairs half of the double, “someone grabbed him from behind and put him into a headlock. (The victim) stated another male came out with a semi-automatic handgun and told him that if he moved he would blow his brains out,” the report says.
The three then kicked the victim out of the house before stealing his marijuana and money, the report says.
The victim told officers he believes the male who put him in a headlock was Colin Michael, and the male who had the gun was Brown.
Springfield police continue their investigation into this robbery, along with the double shooting.
