Shots fired near elementary school prompts lockdown

UPDATE @ 11:15 a.m. (Jan. 19):

Police are searching for a silver minivan that may have been involved in a possible shooting into an apartment building that prompted a lockdown at Fairview PreK-6 school, according to dispatch records.

Officers were reportedly in the area of Uhrig and Ravenwood avenues investigating, according to initial reports.

The lockdown at the school was lifted about 10 minutes after it was issued around 10:50 a.m., school officials said.

Our reporter in the area reported hearing about 10 gunshots fired.

INITIAL REPORT:

A shots fired call near Fairview PreK-6 school prompted the school to go on lockdown this morning.

The shots were reported fired around 10:45 a.m. and our crew on the scene said school officials put the school on lockdown while police investigate.

The school is located on the corner of Elsmere and West Hillcrest Avenues.
