Blair A. Pyles, 39, of Springfield, is charged with five counts of kidnapping and one count of aggravated burglary. He is being held on $650,000 bond.

Steven Laws, 38, of Springfield on suspicion of five counts of complicity to kidnapping; and single counts of aggravated burglary and having a weapon under disability. He is being held on $585,000 bond.
Joseph P. Woods, 27, of Jackson, was charged with three counts of complicity to kidnapping. He is being held on $150,000 bond.
Deputies responded around 9 p.m. Monday to a burglary at a home in Scioto Furnace involving men with guns driving a black truck.

During the investigation, deputies learned that two men and a 3-year-old child were in a vehicle in front of their residence in South Webster when three men with firearms pulled up, forcing them into the truck. The gunmen took the victims’ cellphones and IDs, and then drove to the home in Scioto Furnace, according to the sheriff’s office.
At the home, one of the gunmen forced a man inside the home with him. Several people were able to exit, with one going to a neighbor’s house to call 9-1-1. The suspect grabbed a bag with vapor refills that contained THC and then fled out the door, running into the deputies.

Detectives noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from inside the residence. A search turned up several mason jars of marijuana downstairs, and a locked room upstairs, which they said was an indoor grow room with fans, LED lights, heaters, dryers and multiple plants that had an estimated street value of $19,000, according to the sheriff’s office.
The investigation is ongoing, with more charges expected to be presented to a grand jury once evidence is tested at the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
