Suspect arrested after Harrison Twp. Rite Aid robbery

HARRISON TWP., Montgomery County — A suspect in the robbery of the Rite Aid pharmacy, 3700 Dixie Drive, Wednesday didn’t get far before Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies caught up with him.

The pharmacy was robbed around 2:30 p.m. by a man who entered the business and went to the pharmacy area where he demanded prescription drugs from the pharmacist, implying he had a weapon, according to a sheriff’s press release on the event.

The pharmacist threw a pill bottle down one of the isles and the suspect retrieved the bottle and fled the store on foot. A bystander followed the suspect out of the store and directed deputies who had arrived on the scene to the suspect, who was taken into custody without incident about a block from the business, according to the press release.

The matter remains under investigation by the Harrison Twp. detective section of the sheriff’s office.
