Deputies cited a clerk at a gas station at 6001 Far Hills Ave. in Washington Twp. on Friday, May 7, after the clerk allegedly sold alcohol to a 20-year-old person who was working with the deputies, said Montgomery County Sgt. Mike Brem.
Xenia Police cited at least six clerks for illegal alcohol sales on Friday, according to Capt. Scott Anger. The sales were allegedly made at: Speedway, 333 W. Main St.; Honk and Holler Drive-Thru, 649 N. Detroit St.; Southwest Carryout, 824 Cincinnati Ave.; Fulmer Supermarket, 176 Xenia Towne Square; Moto Mart, 590 W. Second St.; Valero Station, 296 Home Ave.
Those cited for selling alcohol to an underage customer face a first-degree misdemeanor charge, according to Anger. No other citations were issued.
The Xenia businesses where the clerks were cited are subject to administrative reviews and penalties from the Ohio Liquor Board, according to Anger.
Centerville detectives also cited five people for underage sales of alcohol while conducting checks this weekend, according to a police incident log. Those charged included an 18-year-old man.
Centerville police had not released the names of the businesses where the clerks were cited as of 11:47 a.m. Monday.
