Wife of Reds' Mat Latos attacked by Pirates fan

The wife of Cincinnati Reds' pitcher Mat Latos claimed on Twitter she was attacked by a Pirates fan at PNC Park in Pittsburgh during the Reds' National League Wild Card game Tuesday night, October 1.

Dallas Latos tweeted she was punched in the head several times and had her hair pulled. The Reds lost to the Pirates, 6-2.

Latos claims in a tweet PNC Park security didn't properly intervene during Tuesday night's incident. We have compiled Dallas Latos' string of tweets regarding the incident.

In a news conference Wednesday, Pittsburgh police said their officers did not witness the alleged assault so it is a, "he said, she said," case. They did identify the alleged attacker, a female, but no arrest was made or summons issued. The criminal investigation is closed, according to police.

However, police did privately provide Latos with the woman's name in the event she wants to pursue civil action. They also said seven Pirates and Reds fans were ejected from the game after warnings were issued. Police said some of those people ejected were from Latos' group.

Shortly after the police news conference concluded, Dallas Latos took to Twitter again, disappointed with police statements. In her tweets, Latos said she was not wearing Reds clothing when she was grabbed from behind and punched in the head by a woman. Latos said before the attack, she alerted security to the group around her after being threatened by a man she'd asked to stop making derogatory comments about someone's grandmother. Latos said she plans on pursuing legal action. We have also compiled Latos' news conference reaction tweets.
