Woman on horseback rescued from high-water creek

FRANKLIN TWP. — A woman was rescued from a swift-moving creek Friday, April 2, after an unsuccessful attempt to cross the waterway on horseback.

Franklin Twp. Fire and Rescue responded to the Twin Creek area near Chamberlain Road Friday afternoon. Crews dropped a ladder over a bridge to rescue the woman who was unable to get out of the water.

A Franklin Twp. fire official said the woman, whose name was not released, tried to cross the creek while riding a horse with two other horseback riders. The water level was deeper than expected and the woman fell off her horse.

Neither she nor her horse was injured in the incident, however police may issue citations for alcohol, according to a witness at the scene.
