Tony Kendell, an assistant county prosecutor, said Moore “lied about her income and the person living with her so she could get housing” from the Metropolitan Housing Authority and food stamps from the county Job and Family Services Department.
The charges against Moore said the offenses occurred between March 2000 and July 2008.
Public Defender Steve Layman told sentencing Judge Jeffrey Welbaum that this was Moore’s first felony conviction. He said she wanted to take steps to repay the money.
Prosecutors, who had agreed to a community control sentence, asked for the restitution order.
Welbaum sentenced Moore to five years of community control. She was ordered to obtain full-time employment and pay restitution of $30,243 to the housing authority and $3,525 to Job and Family Services.
If Moore violates terms of the community control, she will be sentenced to 18 months in prison, Welbaum said.
