Woman pleads to felonious assault before trial

Tabitha Wooten, 33, 1655 N. Belmont Ave., will go to jail for six years after pleading guilty to felonious assault and tampering with evidence, said Dan Driscoll, Clark County assistant prosecutor.

Wooten was scheduled to go to trial today on charges of attempted murder, felonious assault and having weapons while under disability, according to court records. Wooten pleaded guilty in a plea deal Friday.

Wooten's charges stem from an October 2013 shooting. Wooten shot Jeremy Frey in the chest while Frey was attempting to buy crack cocaine, court records indicate. During the incident, according to court records, Frey was told he could not leave until he paid a prior debt and Wooten put a semi-automatic handgun on Frey's chest and shot him.
