Jazzmon Marie Brooks, 37, pleaded guilty to murder, tampering with evidence, gross abuse of a corpse and having weapons under disability, according to a Montgomery County court official.

Two counts of felonious assault and one count of murder were dismissed.

Brooks is required to serve 18 years before she can be considered for parole, according to the prosecutor’s office.

On Sept. 22, 2018, police responded to the 400 block of Hunter Avenue in Dayton after a caller reported a man was dead in the bathroom, according to 911 dispatch records.

Timothy Truesdale, 40, was found dead and partially wrapped in a shower curtain in a shared apartment with Brooks, according to the prosecutor’s office.

An autopsy later determined he died from a gunshot wound.

The person who called 911 told the dispatcher that the woman who shot Truesdale was reportedly in fear for her life.

The caller said they just learned about the shooting from a friend and told police it happened about a week before her call.
