Police said they had received a tip about the two women allegedly using a social networking site to advertise prostitution.
“They were using Craigslist,” said West Chester Sgt. Joe Gutman.
Gutman said the posts on classified advertisement Web site Craigslist were less explicit than reality, and included offers of massages.
“Some of these advertisements were brought to our attention, and the investigation ensued from there,” Gutman said.
Similar operations have netted hundreds of people across the county just this year using the site to sell sex.
In April, eight women were arrested in Deerfield Twp. on prostitution charges following a sting by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.
The two women arrested in West Chester do not have prior criminal records locally, Gutman said.
“This type of criminal activity ... We don’t want it here, and we’re going to address it,” he said.
The women are scheduled to appear for arraignment in Butler County Area III Court at 1 p.m., Aug 11. They face up to 60 days in jail and a $500 fine if convicted.
