Lt. Steve Saunders, a Cincinnati police spokesman, said initial reports indicated the boy may have shot himself while playing with a gun on Chandler Street near Glenshade Avenue. But Saunders also cautioned it was too early to speculate. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death are underway, said Saunders, who could not confirm if the boy had, in fact, been playing with the firearm, WCPO reported.
A 5-year-old boy may have been playing with a gun Saturday before he was fatally shot.
The boy, identified by family members as Sincere Peek, was taken from the city’s Madisonville neighborhood to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead by around 1 p.m., our media partner WCPO-TV reported.
