A neighbor reported seeing heavy smoke pouring from the rear of the home. When crews arrived they were able to knock down the flames in the first floor, but the fire had spread into the walls and up into the attic, Bowers said.
Crews went up to the attic and put out the remaining flames. No one was inside the home and no one was injured.
Bowers said the cause of the fire appears suspicious and is under investigation.
He said neighbors reported a man was living in the sizable dog house.
“He had a mattress in the dog house and the fire appears to have started in the dog house and spread to the rear of the structure,” Bowers said.
