Dayton firefighters battled heavy smoke as they worked to quickly knock down a house fire in the 600 block of Ferguson Avenue Monday morning.

The house is furnished, but is believed to not be occupied. No one was inside when the fire stated, said Dayton Deputy Fire Chief Fred Haney.

Crews encountered flames at the back of the house and were able to suppress it there. No injuries were reported.

Investigators are working to determined what started the fire. We will update this story as more information is available.
