A Springboro High School student who made a comment perceived as a threat was arrested at his Clearcreek Twp. home Thursday night and was not in school Friday, according to an email sent to district parents.

The student’s comment raised concern and was brought to the attention of staff by other high school students. Administrators were notified, and the Springboro Police Department was called to further investigate, according to the district.

The comment was not determined to be a credible threat, officials said, but the student was not at school on Friday.

Clearcreek Twp. police arrested the student Thursday night at his home, but the email did not indicate why.

“At no point were any guns or weapons, of any kind, brought into Springboro High School or any other school building in the district. There was no threat to the students or staff of Springboro High School,” the email stated.

School officials praised the students who followed what the district and police encourage: “If you see something, say something.”
