1 arrested in Troy double stabbing

The suspect is expected to be charged with attempted homicide.

TROY - Police arrested a Troy man accused of stabbing a former girlfriend and another man at the America’s Best Inn on Troy Towne Drive early Monday, Feb. 6.

Capt. Jeff Kunkleman said the woman, 33, and the suspect, 33, had dated until about a month ago.

The woman was at the motel with a boyfriend, 30, around 3:30 a.m. when Boyea allegedly knocked on the door and attacked the two with a folding knife. The woman was able to call 9-1-1.

The woman and man were taken to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight, which landed near the motel located just west of Interstate 75. Both remained in the hospital Monday afternoon.

David Boyea, 33, was arrested in Troy around 9 a.m. and taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries. Kunkleman said Boyea received a couple of wounds when the male said he tried to defend himself and the woman.

Boyea was taken to the county jail Monday afternoon. Kunkleman said he would be charged with attempted homicide in the attacks.

Kunkleman said police found the assailant’s knife near the Montessori School down the street from the motel and that all three involved worked at the Troy Burger King.
