BBB revokes accreditation for three firms

Three Miami Valley companies have had their accreditation revoked by the Better Business Bureau. The board of directors say that the companies failed to meet the bureau's standards for trust.

The bureau revoked accreditation for Home Improvement Terrance King, LLC, 216 Rice Street in Springfield.  The bureau contacted the company several times in writing and by phone regarding a customer complaint about work performed on a chimney.  The bureau finally sent a certified letter announcing suspension of Accredited Business status, and offering assistance.  The company received and signed for the mail, and appealed the revocation. The matter remains unresolved.

Macey and Aleman, PC (dba Legal Helpers), 40 West Fourth Street, Dayton was revoked for failure to build trust and maintain a positive track record in the marketplace. The Chicago Better Business Bureau issued an "F" rating to Macey and Aleman's headquarters in January. That rating was issued because of the volume and seriousness of the complaints.  Those complaints include delays in filing bankruptcy documents and in scheduling court dates and hearings.

After meeting with the Chicago office to address the issues, the bureau raised the grade to a "B-". Then the Chicago bureau did another review and lowered  the company to a "C". The BBB suspended the local office accreditation as a result.  Accredited Businesses must maintain at least a B rating to maintain the privilege.

The bureau revoked accreditation for Professional Touch, 7369 McSmith Lane, Dayton for failure to embody integrity. The company performs landscaping services.  Accredited Businesses are required to avoid activities that reflect unfavorably on the public image of the BBB or its Accredited Business. BBB President  and CEO John North met with the company owner, but was unable to resolve the issues. North says the owner of the firm has a recent felony conviction.
