Where better to talk about beer than in a brewery?

You can get that chance Friday, as local author Timothy Gaffney talks about his hometown’s bygone brewers and breweries.

Star City Brewing Co. in Miamisburg will be the site of Gaffney’s discussion on his new book, is Dayton Beer: A History of Brewing in the Miami Valley (The History Press, $21.99).

A chapter devoted to Miamisburg peels back the years to reveal long-forgotten details about the Star City’s very own brewing industry.

Published records indicate Miamisburg had a brewery at least by 1837. That year’s Ohio Gazetteer listed “1 brewery” among Miamisburg’s industrial assets.

The event is set for 5:30 p.m. Friday at the brewery, 319 S. 2nd St. in downtown Miamisburg. Books will be available for sale then and are also available Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 2619 Miamisburg Centerville Road.
