The new two-bedroom homes generally will be 50 percent larger than their predecessors, and top out at around 2,200 square feet.
Construction on this $1.9 million project is scheduled to begin in March, and be completed by 2013.
It will be the first new build at the 100-acre site on Far Hills Avenue since it underwent a $47 million expansion more than two years ago.
Officials said this may be the last new construction for awhile, due to the extensive upgrades of the last few years, but that redevelopment and remodeling projects will continue as needed.
In addition to cottages, the community has villa and apartment homes, as well as assisted living facilities, memory-supportive care, and short- and long-term nursing care.
Bethany Village, which is turning 66 this year, is home to more than 750 residents age 62 and older.
