Bethany wins Wii bowling tournament

CENTERVILLE — The Striking Seniors team from Bethany Village won the second annual Wii Bowling Competition held recently.

Nine local retirement communities, from Greenville to Lebanon, competed in North, Central and South divisions.

Bethany Village scored 2,406 pins in the final to beat out Mill Ridge Village in Union, which had 2,374. Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville came in third with 2,130 pins.

St. Leonard Senior Living Community residents also participated.

Members of Bethany’s winning Striking Seniors are Bob Shaw, Betty Rike, Hazel Patrick, Evelyn Billing and Don Billing.

Trophies and medals were awarded Nov. 15, and a championship Traveling Trophy will remain at Bethany Village until next year’s championship is awarded.

Last year’s winner was Friendship Village in Clayton.

Bethany representatives said, although there aren’t any other Wii tournaments in the works, residents and staff are exploring whether there is enough interest to have a Wii golf competition.
