Art show entries open

Hoffman United Methodist Church in West Milton is looking for applicants for its 11th annual Art Show to be held Aug. 4-6 at the church activity center, 201 S. Main St. The show is non-juried and intended to share area talent. Some pieces may be available for purchase. Awards will be given. Entry deadline is July 20. Soup kitchen items needed

The Troy Miami County Public Library will be accepting donations of non-perishable food items for the St. Pat’s Soup Kitchen in Troy the week of July 23-29. The soup kitchen offers free meals to anyone in need. The kitchen is in need of the following items: canned fruit, applesauce, peanut butter, canned milk, brownie mix, canned pastas and other items. The library is located at 419 W. Main St, Troy.

4-H alumni to gather

Miami County 4-H alumni and those who attended 4-H camp are invited to attend a gathering during Aug. 12 during the Miami County Fair. The group will meet at the Duke Lundgard Building at the fairground’s north end from 6-9 p.m. Bring any photos to share. Those without a season fair pass will need to pay fair admission at the gate.

Night Out help sought

The Troy Police Department is looking for those interested in organizing a National Night Out block party for the event that promotes police-community partnerships and neighbored camaraderie. Each neighborhood group, with assistance from the police department, would be responsible for planning and holding a block party Aug. 1 from 7-10 p.m. Contact Jeff Waite or Chris Tilley at t 937-335-7525.

Library play day set

Parade entries due

Entries for the Englewood Art Festival Parade in August are due by July 21. The festival is held the second weekend in August, Aug. 12 and 13 this year, at Centennial Park. Activities include the artisan and food booths. The application and more information are available on the city website at www.englewood.oh.us.

VANDALIA

Work on display

Book originals and paintings by Nancy Otis Alber will be on display through July at the gallery at the Municipal Building. The gallery is used by local artists to display their work.
