Limited service at Family Assistance

On July 29, the call center and customer service area of the Montgomery County Family Assistance Division, 1111 S. Edwin Moses Blvd., will not be operational, and workers will be unable to authorize, deny or modify benefits or answer any case questions due database unavailability. Customers will only be able to scan documents, fill out paper applications and ask general questions about the application process.

This office, along with other counties in the state, will be conducting computer updates with the aim of improving service.

Regular operations are expected to resume Aug. 1 and customers can still apply for benefits, report changes and complete interim reports at www.odjfsbenefits.ohio.gov.

Celtic Festival July 29

On July 29 from 6-11 p.m. United Irish of Dayton will present their 15th annual Celtic Festival at RiverScape MetroPark, 237 E. Monument Ave.

This free event features four stages that offer international, national and regional acts providing continuous live musical and dance entertainment with covered seating. Enjoy Celtic culture, children’s activities, food, beverages, whiskey tastings, craft beer garden, traditional Gaelic Mass, 5K race, Celtic breakfast, Gaelic sports and more.

Trotwood block party Aug. 27

The fourth annual Trotwood Block Party will be held Aug. 27 from 2-8 p.m. at the corner of South Broadway and Trotwood Blvd. (Old High School location).

This year’s theme is “Trotwood Family Reunion”. There will be food and non-food vendors, youth football games including, Trotwood wee Rams, the youth baseball association, a carnival cafe, children’s activities, live music on the center stage, and much more.

National Night Out Aug. 2

On Aug. 2, from 6-8 p.m., come and meet the men and women of the Riverside Police Department during National Night Out.

The event will be held in the Riverside City Hall parking lot, 5200 Springfield St.

There will be hot dogs, hamburgers, drinks, Kona Ice, face painting and police and fire equipment on display.
