3 injured in Dayton crash that leaves car wrapped around pole

UPDATE @ 7:50 p.m.: Three males were in the car that ended up wrapped around a DP&L pole on West Fairview Avenue at Willowwood Drive, Dayton Fire Capt. Robert Barnes said.

The driver trapped in the wreckage had to be extricated and is said to be in critical condition, Barnes said. "He was breathing... and mildly combative" as medics put him on a stretcher.

Crews had to break the car's rear window to get another of the passengers out of the wreckage, the captain said. His condition is not known.

The third victim was able to get out on his own. The extent of his injuries is not known.

All three have been taken to Miami Valley Hospital.

There are police crews still on scene, but whether the police department traffic reconstruction unit has reopened the roadway to traffic is not clear, according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch.

UPDATE @ 7:10 p.m.

A traffic reconstruction team is investigating the crash.
