The Carlisle Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 7, in the Choir/Lecture Room at Carlisle High School, at 250 Jamaica Road, to formally introduce Hook to the community.
The public will have the opportunity to meet and speak with the newly hired superintendent immediately following the meeting in the commons area, where light refreshments will be served.
Hook is scheduled to step into his new role July 1. He is currently in a five-month contract with the Warren County Educational Services Center to work as the Little Miami Schools curriculum director, a position he started March 1. Hook said he will remain there until June 30.
Prior to this, Hook was the last of more than 30 employees of the Springboro Community School District cut in the aftermath of four failed levy attempts. In its final action of 2009, the Springboro school board voted to suspend Hook’s contract, effective April 1 or until he found a new job.
Contract details will not be released until Sunday’s board meeting.
Carlisle’s superintendent, Mike Griffiths, announced his decision to retire last November and said he would wait until Jan. 1, 2011, until a new superintendent could be found.
Hook said he’s “chomping at bit” to get started in his new position.
“I don’t think I’ve slept much and probably won’t until after Sunday,” he said. “I am confident Carlisle can be a shining star in education in Southwest Ohio.”
