To qualify to compete in the state tournament, the teams had to place first in the Destination ImagiNation Regional Tournament held in March.
Destination ImagiNation is the country’s largest creative problem-solving program with more than 13,000 teams across the United States.
It teaches students teamwork, creativity and research skills. All solutions, stories, props and costumes are created solely by the students without the help of parents or teachers.
For the competitions, teams of up to seven students select one of six complex challenges and spend several months developing a solution. Each challenge is divided by level, so the students compete at elementary, middle or secondary level.
The teams also competed in an Instant Challenge that requires fast thinking.
They competed against the other winning teams in their respective level from the 12 DI regions in Ohio.
