The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has received approval from the State Controlling Board to invest $183,000 in the Hueston Woods State Park marina fuel system.

“Investing in infrastructure around the state continues to be one of our top priorities,” said ODNR Director Mary Mertz. “These improvements help Ohio State Parks maintain sound safety standards for our guests and the environment.”

The project will replace the existing underground fuel storage tank with a new above ground storage tank along with new electrical equipment, dispenser, and fuel line. The new storage tanks will be modern, code compliant, and save costs on maintenance, according to the state.

Located in Butler and Preble counties, Hueston Woods State Park has nearly 3,000 acres of outdoor recreation, including hiking, fishing, canoeing, and unique to this region — fossil hunting. The park surrounds 625-acre Acton Lake, with campsites, cabins, and a resort lodge.

The ODNR Division of Parks and Watercraft is responsible for managing Ohio’s 75 state parks and providing the finest outdoor recreational opportunities, including first-class boating services, facilities and law enforcement for users of Ohio’s waterways and public lands.
