City of Miamisburg aims to buy, sell Austin-area land

Plan is to pay $4M for the 80-acre parcel now and sell it later this year.

MIAMISBURG — The Miamisburg City Council voted Tuesday night to finance the purchase of 80 acres off Byers Road from the Dayton-Montgomery County Port Authority for $4 million.

The city plans to sell the land, part of 120 acres known as the Long Farm, later this year for commercial or industrial development.

“I see industry out there. I see smaller-type businesses. It’s just a great potential for Miamisburg,” Mayor Dick Church said.

The vote was 6-0. Councilman Darin Preston was absent with an illness.

Miamisburg annexed the land, west of the Austin Boulevard Interchange, in 1996. Investors sold the land to the port authority in 2003.

RG Properties, developer of Austin Landings east of the interchange, recently decided to give up an option to buy the remaining Long Farm land.

Motoman Robotics, Chisano Marketing and two other owners also own parcels, leaving just under 82 acres the city is to purchase from the port authority.
