Clayton vehicle fire damages apartment bldg.

UPDATE @ 7:25 p.m.: The cause of the vehicle fire that destroyed the vehicle and damaged an apartment building in the 100 block of Woolery Lane, just off North Main Street, remains under investigation, Clayton Fire Chief Brian Garver said.

He said there were no injuries, but the smoke and flames did cause the displacement of a resident from one of the apartments.

Crews arrived to find the vehicle, which was about five feet from the building, fully engulfed. They also found damage from smoke and flames on the second floor and in the attic. There was some exterior damage to the building as well, Chief Garver said.
